PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This was a web design project for some clients that are also friends of mine. The business consults and helps businesses redesign office and workspaces.
PROJECT GOALS
The goal of this project was to create a website that would help legitimise them as a business, describe what it is that they do and also a point of contact for new customers. Another goal that emerged later in the project was to get capture user info and get them to sign up to their newsletter.

Designing for Responsive

One of the most difficult to solve problems was making the website responsive too late into the project. Not being so comfortable with the Webflow platform was also attributed to the difficulty.

Planning the layout for different mediums in advance was definitely a hard-earned lesson I took from this process. And, not only is it important to usability but also influences the ease in building and developing. As I'm getting more comfortable with Webflow and understanding how it works, I'm simultaneously improving my early design strategy; this updated portfolio is an example of that.

Copywriting

Most of the content for the site will be provided by the stakeholders, however, to get them started I had to do some micro-copywriting in the form of titles, subtitles and headings.

Although most of the writing I did was brief and on the front page, I still struggled.I had to consider the tone of the brand which was quite formal but friendly. To succeed I had to go through a process of trial and error, presenting my drafts until we all agreed that it felt right for the business.

Limitations of Stock Imagery

As it's a new business that's yet to have its first client, there was no original imagery available from case studies of previous work. Because of this, we decided on using stock imagery from various websites. Though I'm not unhappy with the way the website turned out as a whole, the value of bespoke imagery that would fit with the creative direction, mood and culture of the website and business was an element missing.

Final Thoughts

Overall the project went well, though at times tumultuous. I had issues with my Macbook that took a while to repair and threw the project off. Getting the content for the site was also one of the main issues, but I'm happy that I've gone through it. I learned a lot about what preparations are needed in advance for similar projects to go more smoothly in the future.
